Owner and Master sharpener Michele La Trobe spent 3 months learning the ancient art of Japanese hand sharpening and then a further 6 months perfecting the art while sharpening over 250 pairs to qualify as a true "Master Sharpener".
Michele uses the finest imported Japanese machinery but due to the fact that hairdressing scissors are hand crafted each pair requires detailed analysis by a skilled professional before they are disassembled to establish exactly which aspects of the scissors, be it the cutting edge, the ride, the tip alignment, the set, the balance or a number of other factors must be rectified to restore the scissors to a "good as new" quality.
Many other people claiming to be professional sharpeners will quite literally just sharpen the blade, but unfortunately that is less than half the work required to fix a pair of blunt or damaged scissors. In fact it can actually do more damage than good and a large portion of scissors that end up in the care of Superior Edge are scissors that have been damaged by someone else sharpening them incorrectly, without taking the scissors through the proper "17 Step Process" that ensures they are correctly restored.
